The Best Tips for Your Next Beach Trip With Family or Friends

how to pack for the beach

Nothing beats a day of fun under the sun with your family or group of friends; that is, as long as you’ve packed all the things you need and as long as you know the hacks of a stress-free beach day. Going to the beach is definitely one of everyone’s favorite activities to do regardless if you’re in Miami or Australia or wherever you are located.

Let’s face it, we’ve all been there—we’ve all tried planning to spend a marvelous day at the beach only to actually spend that day with raised eyebrows and ruined moods because you forgot to pack some things or something like that.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this challenge. We can totally relate because we’ve been in that situation too. This is mainly the reason why we’ve compiled some tips in achieving a better version for your next trip at the beach.

Important Tips

  • Make a list.

Days before the set date, try to come up with a list of the important things you think you might need during the beach trip. You can either list it on a notebook or even on your phone. Use this list as a guide when you start picking up things from the supermarket as well as when you start packing for your trip. Simply mark the things you’ve secured so you can keep track of what you lack.

  • Prepare ahead of time.

Please don’t start packing an hour before you’re scheduled to leave. Perhaps, the best time to start packing is a day before the date so you still have time to make emergency trips to the pharmacy or the supermarket for things you might have forgotten to buy.

  • Pack in an organized way.

This way, you’re sure that you won’t spend an hour at the beach digging through all 3 bags because you’re looking for your goggles and rash guards. Simply put the swimming essentials together; put this away from the food and drinks. Make sure your keys are safely kept somewhere that can be easily accessed as well; perhaps, a small pouch would do for this one.

  • Don’t forget the following beach essentials:
  1. Sunscreen or sunblock
  2. Sun hat
  3. Sunglasses
  4. Swimwear (swimming suits, trunks, rash guards, aqua shoes)
  5. Towels
  6. each umbrella (if you have one)
  7. Plastic plates, cups, spoon and forks
  8. Cooler
  9. Bottles of water
  10. Beach blankets
  11. Beach toys for the kids

Tip: Make sure you protect your skin using sunblock especially during the summer when heat is significantly worse. Too much sun may be useful for getting tanned but it may also lead to skin cancer. Thus, it’s best to always be protected from too much harmful UV rays.

  • Prepare enough food and drinks.

It’s great to secure a mini cooler for your drinks and food. When preparing the food, put them in small containers; make sure the covers are securely locked so the food won’t spill on your way to the beach. Since the sun will be out; make sure there is enough supply of water for everyone. And lastly, don’t forget to bring along your plastic cups, plates and fork.

  • Go to the beach early.

The earlier the better as there are lesser people around. If you go to the beach at an early time, you can freely choose the best spots to stay and you can comfortably position your beach essentials in that area. Whereas, if you go to the beach after lunch time, chances are; the great chilling spots would already be taken.

  • Choose your swimwear correctly.

Although bikinis and some swimming trunks are almost always the swimming attires for summer; you should also consider bringing rash guards to protect your skin from too much heat. Remember to choose the best rash guard for the money; make sure you get something worth what you paid for.

  • Choose the right beach blankets.

A lot of beach-goers have opted to use duvet/comforters instead of typical blankets for the beach. This is because duvet is more resistant to harsh winds at the beach. Perhaps a duvet that is the size of a single bed may do the job well.
